Nascar 4 rev limiter

Is there a way to turn off the rev limiter in Nascar 4?

Last night I was playing online with a fixed setup at Daytona and I was into
the limiter on the back stretch several times. I don't know if the setup was
purposely like this to keep cars that have fallen back in the rear and to
make it hard to catch up or what.

Thanks in advance.

Not that I know of.  You might want to make 4th gear a little longer.  If
you get in a draft you'll be at a huge advantage if the guy you are drafting
behind suddenly hits his rev limiter, if you don't ram him.  On the long
drafting tracks like Talladega you can get left behind if your top gear is
setup for drafting and you are lapping alone.  It's a tough call just
experiment a bit.

He said he was racing in a fixed setup.  If I recall, that means you can't
fiddle with gear ratios.
If the fixed setup are derived from the papy defaults then that explains it-
they're deliberately less than perfect so the players who know setups can
dial in their advantage.

Yes, but if you do, you won't be able to join online races because the
server machine will detect that your track.ini file is modified.

Bill thankyou for opening up my FAVORITE can of worms.  If you are in a
fixed setup race, then everybody has the same limitation.  The only way you
can catch someone is to draft.  If you have fallen out of the draft of the
lead group, you won't be able to catch them without a drafting partner.  You
will however have lots of time to practice your lines.  Practice Practice
Pratice....this will reap far more rewards than editing the rev limiter
file.  Of course if you insist on the edit path..don't forget to add some
grip to the tires, and reduce the rolling resistance, and add a hundred
extra horsepower, and of course remember to tweek the pitcrew settings so
you can exit the pits with 4 fresh tires and 2 cans of gas in only 8
seconds.

Nascar 4 rev limiter

I have been experimenting with using 3rd gear to drive out of the
draft, and 4th as a sort of "overdrive" for when I am drafting.  As a
starting point, I changed 3rd gear to a slightly higher gear ratio
than 4th.  Then I moved 2nd to what 3rd used to be and then 1st to
what 2nd used to be.

Using third gear like this translates into you being able to turn more
RPMs than you would when you are in 4th, but I am not really sure
there is much speed advantage.  Actual lap-time improvements seem
negligible (but then, I am not the most consistent fellow out there).

The nice thing though, is that you can run a even lower gear ratio in
4th, which, will conserve fuel, and also give you much better closing
speed when you are drafting up on another car.  Then, out of the
draft, you can downshift to 3rd and maintain your speed a little
better than you otherwise would be able.

Just dont***up and downshift to 2nd when you think you are in 4th
but are really in 3rd...

Any observations?  The only time I can see that you would really pay a
penalty for doing this is leaving the pits on a green-flag stop, when
every split-second counts for gobs of track position...
