Any sims similar to need for speed where I can be chased by cops, race
other cars (Preferably American Hotrods) through U.S. city streets?
I dont want Motorcity Online because you cant play offline.

Midtown Madness 2, but its driving model needs a lot of improvement.

You can also try Driver, though those are not hotrods and the cops are
NUTS.

IMO, GTA3 PC might be somewhat along the lines of what you're looking for
too.  Though the focus is less on driving as it is outright ***, it's
got a good driving model, at least in the PS2 version. You can't do as much
chasing of other cars per se (there are one or two missions you can do along
the plotline that do involve racing) but blow up enough stuff and you can
get cops, SWAT vans, helicopters, the FBI, or even the Army chasing you
down...great stress reliever.  ;)

It's just the jewelcase version of the game... No difference at all from
the original. The***pit is mainly useless any way as the best driving
is done from the 3rd person view (really).

I can't/won't drive any driving game from that view. Why is that view
better?

Driver (on the PS anyway) has a***pit view, but there's no***pit actually
shown, so I guess it's sort of a "sitting in an invisible car's driver seat"
view.  Really good fun.  I only wish that Driver 2 had the same police AI as
the first one did.  They're rather suicidal in the second version.  It's pretty
cool to be able to get out of the car and carjack somebody though :-)

You can "weave" through traffic better that way. The lanes in Driver are
pretty wide and often you can straddle a lane and squeeze through two
cars stopped at the traffic light, for example.

There IS a***pit view, but it's basically the "hood cam" with a
***pit
overlay, so you end up seeing LESS of the road. You don't see things
like steering wheel, center console, speedometer, or things like that.

They are suicidal in the FIRST version already... Kamikaze mentality. It
doesn't
matter how many other cars they take out... Just as long as they get
you! And
it seems the entire police force is out to get you at times... During a
single run
you can see DOZENS of police cars... EVEN as you leave them flipped and
wrecked in your exhaust. It's then you realized that this game just
respawn
those cops. :-P

There's also some weird physics bugs in the game...
