But most of us aren't that good, David.  When Lary and I were in the same race
it was usually a case of who made the fewest(or least damaging) error.<g>

But, if everyone who signed up ran, that would be a full field.  But, what *is*
the maximum number of drivers who could race online?  Is it limited to 22?

Not me,  I joined in just to get some seat time.   THe Eff1 cars go into
hybernation once the big mods start rolling out.

Switching to a touring car mod would be fine with me.  I'm not going to be
able to make it any more often, but at least there will likely be more
people showing up.  OTOH we only have a few races left, so I'm not sure it
makes any sense to switch now.  I think we should finish the schedule and
then use the time slot for either ETCC or TPTCC.

Compared to the F1 cars its like a sunday drive. If you are new to the
circuits, its way easier with those since you can analyze your coner line
for a few secs before you actually reach the corner. At least that's what I
found.

The online races are generally closer since the cars are closely matched
and I think require a bit less practice to drive properly.

[snip]

I agree with what Dave says later in this thread - the F1 cars are way more
challenging and to run as close as we do for so many laps is awesome :) To
get a big field, I guess we may have to switch to touring cars but if that
is eventually the case then I would definitely recommend TPTCC - it's
streets (pun) ahead of ETCC in just about every respect, particularly
online.

Would be nice to see a few more at Magny for the F1 stuff next Sunday -
you're missing a blast ;)

The setup is really critical with the F1 cars.

I don't know for sure, but I'm guessing it's limited to 22.

C'mon Eldred - get with it!

TPTCC - Touring cars for Nascar 2003 (Corvette & Mustang car shapes so far)

Pretty damn good IMHO.

As for no mods for GPL now you *are* joking us right Eldred? I couldn't play
GPL in original form, but with the mods it is right up there with anything 5
years its junior...

Cheers

Not like we've ever had that problem... :-(

Ah, ok - thanks!

Nope, I'm not joking.  I have a different skid sound that I can hear better,
but other than that I'm running the game stock out of the box.  No other
graphics or sounds.

I don't know if you have time for GPL these days, but at least check out
this site for a before & after shot of GPL then and now and have a look at
the add ons if you get a chance.

http://www.racesimcentral.net/

Most importantly for me is the GPL dashes are IMHO the best around - the
stock dash looks, well horrid these days.

A good comparison of dashes old & new are here:

Sorry Eldred, I love the server, cars & drivers but too many other things
going on right now (getting married/looking for job/studying/Christmas).  I
understand you're in pretty much the same boat, I don't know how the heck
you do it...

Nobody says I do it *well*...<g>
Yep, I have all of those as well, except the marriage won't be for a year or
more.

Well, if you are running the EA sims or NR2003 then you can load a lot of
GPL graphics and sound mods and still get 36fps. Some of the addon tracks
need a bit more horspeower but you bags of potential I am sure.

Cheers
