Did "Spirit of Speed" have a demo ? Whatever, it was a hideous effort .

Don't think it belongs in this thread :)

Running against a full field of AI would of course kill the FPS in the
honkin' Voodoo 3 to sort that out... ;-)

I find myself periodically thinking about the frustrations I had with the
demo as I pick the remnents of my car out of another set of haybales. So,
worst demo ever? Nah, just frustrating at the time. Best transition from
demo to actual product? Maybe that's closer to what I'm getting at...

It was very smooth.

At least the CMR3 demo ran after I'd switched to WinXP (still sucked worse
in sim terms than CMR1, but that's beside the point), unlike the Race Driver
demo, which still crashes on going to track.

Indeed - much more fun as a topic anyway. But there have been so many ***
demos; how to pick THE one? If we go by ratio of download size to time on
the HD before deleting, then GP4 wins by a landslide. But I usually pick
the upchuck factor, since feeling ill is far more unpleasant than just being
disappointed with game features. Seems I'm hyper-sensitive to stuff
happening with the car that my brain tells me shouldn't be, so I get
nauseated easily. Just like riding in the car with my sis driving; gas,
brake, gas, brake - all on a straight road with no traffic. And every turn
has about five apexes. Uurpp. ;-)
By that measure, Ubisoft's early F1 jobs are king. Nothing before or since
has been as likely to turn me green and sweaty.

It did indeed have a demo... which was awful, and stopped me buying the
actual game until it turned up on super-budget. The actual game, with a
bit of tweaking, can be quite fun.
