Need For Speed 4 vs NFS3!

Can anyone tell me if NFS4 "High Stakes" has the same tracks as NFS3, just
with more/better effects (like NFS2 and NFS2 SE) , or is it a completely
different game?

Also... I've seen NFSII SE on sale at Comp USA for $20, and on the box it
has a $20 rebate! Is this rebate still good??? If so it's like getting the
game for free, albeit an 8 week wait for the check in the mail....

It has new tracks as well as all NFS3 tracks. Driving model is better,
though still not as good as NFS1. Damage model makes you drive more
realistically, as does the well-donw career mode with $ for fixing and
buying cars. It's not perfect, but IMO is a much better game than
NFS3.

NFS:HS has the 9 tracks from NFS3 plus 10 more tracks. NFS4 (HS) has a total
of 19 tracks.

It also has a better mix of cars.

It also has faster gameplay. The cars really feel faster than in NFS3.
The cars seem to handle better also.

All in all I would say that NFS4 (HS) is a much better game. I can't think
of any thing I liked about NFS3 better than NFS4.

[snip]

From what I saw in the demo of NFS3, the cars handled terrible, and I
imagine they in no way represented the feel of the cars they were
modelled on in real life.

I'm looking forward to the day when they make the cars feel as
realistic as they did in The Need for Speed 1.

Personally I think it's a shame that EA have continued with their
'arcadish' feel towards these past few games. TNFS 1 felt more like a
simulator than an arcade racer, and for that, even after all this
time, it still remains one of my favourite games, despite its age.

Well, I can't agree with you on that, I'm glad they made it more of an
arcadish game, I simply hated spinning out of control for 15 seconds in
NFS1, and NFS3/4 simply has a more fun, and direct approach to racing. I
guess EA figured they have a greater Arcade-demaning audience than they have
a sim-demanding one. Anyway, I like how the cars feel in NFS4, especially,
it is a lot of fun powersliding on turns. It may not be realistic, but it's
fun!

NFSIISE, ahem, I got it free with my wheel, and it's a piece
of crap, graphics from 1984, etc etc. Didn't like my wheel
either, not  worth taking  up space on your cdholder
Tracks   seems all different to me, but I didn't think that
much of nfs3, I quite liked the new High Stakes, better
driving feel and control, graphics amazing.

Yuck...

I could live with it if the steering felt more like steering.
