Professional Sports Car Racing is a sim of real Sports Car Racing. They are
real RACE cars, you get to drive cars in GT1, GT2, and GT3 classes like the
Panoz, Porche 911, Viper, Mustang, BMW. These cars wont be stock but racing
versions of the cars like say a Viper GT1. There probably wont be any money
managment in the sim. But if I wanted to buy, sell, and make stuff I'd go
play Civilization or Grand Prix Manager.

Gee, when you grow up, you want to be a Car Salesman for Toyota or
something, right?

Maybe they might include a hacksaw so you can cut your own springs???

Gran Turismo is NOT a simm! It is an ARCADE GAME! And full of Jap Tin
Cans! I see enough of THAT ***on the streets here every day in SoCal!
I used to race RX7's a long time ago, but I am sick of these "RICE" cars
(except the RX7). I want to play a REAL race game! And that is what this
new SIMM is all about. It is the closest game to a LeMans style of
driving around. And the cars in GT are no where NEAR the quality of the
real GT1, GT2, and GT3 that are portrayed in this game.

Ah, go play with your Playstation! Leave the real simms for the PC
crowd.

You mean I can't plug it into my motherboards memory sockets?

Oh, except yours.  About says it all.

Well, playstations probably don't take the same simms as the PC does anyway.
Gee haven't you switched to dimms yet?

> >Gran Turismo is NOT a simm!

> You mean I can't plug it into my motherboards memory sockets?

Ok, so I get the SIM confused with the SIMMS, and so thus I am DIMM   :)

Well, if you drove/raced a rotary, you'd have a special place in your
heart for them too! And they are NOT as numerous, or as popular with the
street crowd, as the Integra's, Civic's, Accord's, or Sentra's - with a
sprinkling of Supra's. And the Gen 3 is an awesome car, except for its
many problems.

And as for Toyota? I hate them with a passion! After working at Toyota
Dealerships for over 13 years in both Parts and Service, I vowed never
to buy one! The owners of these dealers never really treated their
employees with respect, nor did you get benefits or whatever! Since the
last day I worked at one (over 11 years now), I have never stepped onto
the lot at a Toyota or Lexus dealer.

Ok, you got me on that one!  :)

>Why did you take my comments so personally?

It appeared to me you took the original message personally, with all
your exclamation marks etc.

I guess people are into different things in games. I personally look
for games that I CAN'T do (e.g. afford to do) in real life, like
racing real racing cars.

If I can afford to buy the GT cars in real life and modify them, why
wouldn't I do it in real life instead?

Are you talking about PC or PS driving games now? As great as it is,
GT still doesn't have a damage model. If these forthcoming PC racing
sims won't have either, I will probably not buy them, except maybe as
funny arcade racing games.

Which games are you talking about specifically? For example in F1RS
there are differences between the cars, just like in real life.

So why don't you drive and modify them in real life then instead?
Is it more satisfying to do it in a console game?

I play games to experience things I couldn't do in real life. For
example, driving a high power F1 car in a race, or flying a F15 or
EF2000 in a full scale war. I don't want to play a Ford Mondeo
simulator because I can already drive it in real life. :)

You haven't played many PC racing sims, have you? In basically all of
them the modifications to the cars is a big part of the game.

> >     Yeah, but can you buy and sell REAL cars, like ones you may be able to

> Gee, when you grow up, you want to be a Car Salesman for Toyota or
> something, right?

No. I just like real cars...

Why did you take my comments so personally? I'm into REAL cars and modifications
to real cars, therefore I like games that allow you to do this. You must prefer
racing games with race cars, right??

Not as much as arcade as most. Certainly one of  the best sims I've  played...

    Silly opinion....

    Yep. Nice cars.

I suppose you like all those GP sims too. Those boring old round and round the
*** track in cars with no difference between them sort of sims??

Never driven those cars. Probably never will. I will never know if the games
close to reality or not, except for your word, but then I'm not sure you've driven
them either. I've driven many of the cars features in GT, and can say that the game
is very true to many of them.    Going round and round a track for 12 hours does
really get me going. May work for you though...

Don't have a PSX, sorry. Still waiting for GT on the PC. And you really
shouldn't make such generalisations that PCs have all the sims and PSX have all
arcade games, without actually playing the games. GT and Colin McRae Rally are great
sims that are yet to appear on PC (Collin McRae coming soon), but I'm not about to
buy a silly PSX after continally spending so much on my PC.
I suppose you prefer NFS2  (the one with the silly super-cars and round and round
tracks) to NFS1 (the one with real cars and open roads)???

>     No. I just like real cars...

So do I, but I prefer real race cars to street cars (on the track, of
course).

Yes, I prefer real race cars, and I think your idea has some merit,
being able to change setups, but then perhaps they should come out with
a separate game for testing setups (like you want), and then you can
save them to import into the racing game, or even share them with
friends over the Internet. The trouble is, there might not be enough
room for both the race, and the setup/testing that you want. So for me,
I'd prefer the racing.

Unfortunately, no matter how much you test drive a car/race car on the
PC, or try out modifications, it will not give you a real road test of
that car. I HAVE raced sports cars in the past, and I HAVE raced at Road
America, Gratten, Blackhawk Farms, Riverside, and other tracks, and I
can tell you this - even with a T2 or NASCAR Pro Wheel on a fast PC
(with 3Dfx), I STILL can't go in a straight line or brake, or take the
turns  well at Road America in a PC game, even though I have driven on
that track for years! The only game, so far, that makes me feel like I
am in a race car, is actually TOCA! But even that has its shortcomings
(no road feel, unrealistic speeds through turns, bizarre braking, AI
cars coming out of spins and suddenly ahead of you in an instant!), but
it at least makes me move around in my seat.

It is fantasy, though. LeMans and Sport Racing is based on real tracks
and events.

True though, isn't it? Most of the cars, as the game is from Japan, are
Rice burners. I also worked for Toyota for over 13 years, and a, sick of
them all _ again except for the RX7, and I just LOVE the Gen 3 rocket!
Just in real life they are highly unreliable, and thus why Mazda took
them off the US market (though I hear they are still sold back there).

The Gen 3 is the sharpest looking of all RX7's! No argument there.

Not really, the only game that gets me going is TOCA. Even NASCAR2 with
the BTCC/STW/BOCC patch isn't as good as TOCA to me.

No, I have not driven THOSE cars, but I have driven other race cars
years ago. So when it comes out, I might be able to tell if it is close.
But without the true road feel, it will never be the exact experience,
no matter what game/sim it is.

Gets you going, or does NOT get you going? And even in the real races,
no one driver does the entire 12/24 hours of racing - you'd kill
yourself, or be a hazard to the others around you. This type of racing
is to test the endurance of the car, not the driver. But as I LOVE
racing, I wouldn't mind putting as many hours behind the wheel as I
could, EXCEPT in the rain! UGH!!!!

Hate NFS, it is no where near real. And as for my favorite sim - M1 Tank
Platoon 2, . . . how's that? If I can't beat the competition, then I can
blow them away!  =^)

Oh, I WILL agree with you on NASCAR, going around and around in circles
is boring to me. I need turns, plenty of them, and in all
directions/shapes/and sizes.

For someone who started ***in' about arcade games not being sims etc
etc,  I find it hard to believe that your fav game is a silly wee
arcade game like TOCA.
Just my tuppence worth   ;-)
