Those were the days when we had Ferrari V12s, cars bottoming out
and sending sparks, around the track, NOW that was the show.

What do we have now (except for MS and JM battles) races are
boring, and only passing we see are in the pits. Every damn cars
looks almost the same/sounds the same.

Bring back the OLD CARS, the new once are boring to watch !!!.

PS. DTM series should be fun to watch this year :)

Or exiting the pits at Estoril, slamming to the ground and darting across
the track in front of a car closing at 300kph (Berger experienced this).

Passing statistics show that a lot is actually going on in the current
races.  The problem is that we never see it, as it is happening further back
the field (i.e. behind P3!) and the boneheaded TV director doesn't know
where to concentrate his attention.  I'm not convinced that there is any
less passing now.  Our memories tend to take a whole season of 16 races from
the 90s, distill it down to the handful of heroic moves which Senna or
Mansell did, and then extrapolate that to a whole season of MotoGP style
passing...

Excellent point, maybe a bit too subtle for some.

Those guys are CRAZY!<g>  I don't really *look* for the Moto GP races, but if
I'm channel-surfing and find a race, I'm transfixed. :-)

Still had them in 1993.  1994 was a wholesale ban on a lot of the technology
(and ironically, the year of the first fatal race accidents since 1982).  In
'93 McLaren had ABS, fully automatic gearbox and active suspension.  No
wonder Andretti had troubles coming to grip with it.

notice how more than one indy-racer didn't find the rhythm in F1
and my best guess this is not a driver thing, but more related to cars, F1
having less cars, and they are more different on speed, indycar having more cars
and more closely togheter - just to say indy is a better championship because
cars really overtake each other, unlike F1 - maybe we can propose to do lottery
in stead of a race in F1, would make things more interesting

whats happening to F1 ? I dont know any type of racing having less competition
than F1 - it should be the other way round
