I recently bought a V6 Accord Coupe EX in White...and I went through
EXACTLY the same dealer hoopla that you are going through. Basically,
there is a shortage on the V6's in the coupe. The first few dealers I went
to
visit told me 4-8 weeks for delivery..if at all. I drove a hundred miles to
another,
larger dealer and they had 3 on the lot and claimed they could get any one
that I wished in 2days to 2 weeks. I think it all depends upon the dealer
you
visit. I spoke with Honda of America to let them know of the problems I was
facing when trying to buy one, and they attributed the problem to sheer
shortage of the V6. They reassured me that I would see delivery pick up
in the coming months as they are converting a Honda plant in Japan into
a V6 assembly plant.
As for price, it definitely is the case that a dealer should give you a
better deal
on a car that he hasn't had a hold of for too long. This would definitely
apply
to having to order a V6. Keep on them....if they want to sell it bad
enough, they
will deal. If not, go elsewhere. If you want, I will tell you where I
bought it...
Good luck!

>Hi,
>I want to purchase a V6 Accord Coupe EX. This is a very nice car for
>comfort, resale, etc. I just left an Honda dealer that my car club,
>AutoVantage, recommended me to. AutoVantage recommended me to pay
>dealer invoice + $1800.00 for the car. The salesman offered me
>$23645 without no extra options, and he also stated that it would take
>a month and 1/2 to get my Black V6 in. This is about $110 more than
>what AutoVantage recommended, it seems like a decent price. But I
>still don't want to pay this much, in fact I want give $200 over
>invoice. I was hoping my $5000-$6000 down payment may stroke interest,
>I guess not.
>Maybe I made a mistake of mentioning AutoVantage. Because he went and

>Would I be missing a good deal? Should I just step down to
>the V4? Or should I just go get that fully loaded, t-top, V6 Camaro

>and 1.9-5.7% financing they have going on, now.
>Now, I can wait and save a little more money and purchase the V6, but
>the dealer said they may not be any available in the next month or so.
>Is this a "truth or dare" scam?
>What do you think of all this?
