League race tonight at the Rock, N2002.   My favorite track since N1.
Take the lead around lap 20.  Lead the next 65 laps, when a caution comes
out.
  UNDER YELLOW.......boom, engine goes :(

No, wasn't abusing the engine, etc.., etc., etc.

Must be some more of that "No random breakdowns" code that doesn't exist
:)

-John

p.s.  Though it pissed me off........still pretty cool.......see the same
thing during actual racing too.

There's a racing track at Alcatraz?

Nothing more frustrating than that eh :)
Papy once said in a chat that there was no such thing as random
breakdowns in GPL. Surprised me, since I had some breakdowns too where
I was sure I didn't overrev the engine. I think engine damage builds
up, seems like all the little overrevs do you damage the engine more
and more untill the point where it breaks down.

Pit road is a real pain<G>

"Beware the leader who bangs the drums of war in order to whip the
citizenry into a patriotic fervor, for patriotism is indeed a
double-edged sword. It both emboldens the ***, just as it narrows the
mind.  And when the drums of war have reached a fever pitch and the
*** boils with hate and the mind has closed, the leader will have no
need in seizing the rights of the citizenry. Rather, the citizenry,
infused with fear and blinded by patriotism, will offer up all of their
rights unto the leader and gladly so. How do I know? For this is what I
have done. And I am Caesar."   -- Julius Caesar

The same thing happened to me in my league race, but with N4 at Las
Vegas (we we running a fixed setup race and the engine wasn't
overheating). Out of turn 4, bam!, thick smoke and I was running on 4
cylinders... First time it ever happened to me in that game.

"I do not mean to exclude altogether the idea of patriotism. I know it
exists, and I know it has done much in the present contest. But I will
venture to assert, that a great and lasting war can never be supported
on this principle alone. It must be aided by a prospect of interest, or
some reward.'

George Washington
-----------------

"Patriot: One to whom the interests of a part seem superior to those of
the whole. The dupe of statesmen and the tool of conquerors."
"Patriotism: Combustible rubbish ready to the torch of any one ambitious
to illuminate his name."

Ambrose Bierce
-----------------

"Patriotism, when it wants to make itself felt in the domain of
learning, is a dirty fellow who should be thrown out of doors."

Arthur Schopenhauer
-----------------

"Patriotism ruins history."

Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe
-----------------

"... patriotism cannot go back to an innocent time before the ***ous
excesses of twentieth-century nationalism."

Jean Bethke Elshtain

"Religion, morality, and patriotism are feelings that are manifested
only when they are outraged."

Karl Kraus

"We do not consider patriotism desirable if it contradicts civilized behavior."

Friedrich Drrenmatt

"It seems that American patriotism measures itself against an outcast
group. The right Americans are the right Americans because theyre not
like the wrong Americans, who are not really Americans.

Eric J. Hobsbawm
-----------------

"The heights of popularity and patriotism are still the beaten road to
power and tyranny; flattery to treachery; standing armies to arbitrary
government; and the glory of God to the temp***interest of the clergy."

Unfortunately I do not.  I happened upon it in my journeys about the
