N4 and Older pc's FYI, and question

Hey for what it is worth.  I'm running Nascar4 by papyrus, on a Celeron 400,
64 meg ram, Hercules Thriller 4meg & Monster2 voodoo2 12meg card, using
DX80a, selecting the voodoo2 card of course...

at 800 x 600, with middle "world" setting, medium car detail and mirror on,
but not on highest, I get about 19 fps, except when smoke is around, then it
craps out down to less than 10 & sometimes down to 5.  I could turn down the
gfx, get more fps, but hey it is livable Barely ...
when I race offline, with 10 cars (fair amount of cars, I mean it gets you
some
passing practice without killing the cpu) it is at 16-19 depending on track.

Online with my modem, we raced 5 other players (Dover) with what appeared to
be
very little warp.  there was some, but the cars behaved more like an erratic
driver rather than just popping into course corrected attitudes/positions.

I think few others could stand this game that been holding back thinking New
computer 1st...  But I know if you wait a while, the Game price will come
down, and by then Ill have Higher rankings  LOL   :)

I cant help but think that the voodoo3 (3000 or better) and with AGP would
be a lot nicer than what I have setup right now.
I'm going to Overclock the celery 400 as High as it will go now, and find me
a upgrade Video card, I should be a lot more happy.

NOW THE Questions

I been wondering about the Geforce (NON version 2) or the tnt2 cards, they
are getting cheap, but would I not gain much?  Mainly wondering about the
older version Geforce, seen 32 meg ddr-chipped cards for less than 100.
SO, would IT be, maybe more than 1/2 the gain I would get from the
geforce2 32meg sdr (non mx) cards?  so does anyone have an guidance for
maybe a Low-buck card, to go along with another 64 megs memory to
juice up my computer for n4?
Trying to guess, bang for buck wise upgrade.

Thanks, and any replies to me at Yahoo are appreciated

The GeForce2 MX (32MB) can be had for ~$100 and it will make a big
difference for you. I highly recommed it. With that card an a PII 450, I can
run in 1152x840 and get a fairly solid 30fps with 6 cars drwawn and detail
set to 50%.

The GeForce2MX was good advice.  I wasn't clear if you have an AGP
slot, but I *think* there's a 2MX with PCI if necessary.

N4 really likes CPU.  Assuming your motherboard (and maybe
peripherals) can handle it, 83MHz FSB (500 MHz) or 100MHz FSB (600MHz)
may be possible.  Preferrably 100/600, as you are only overclocking
the CPU at that speed (not PCI bus as well).

CPU...

nothing to be frightened of, and no limit, any fool could get into
a motor car and racing would not exist as a sport." -- Jim Clark

Hey, update for any others in my shoes...

Overclocking the celery went like crap, only setting that booted windows was
450 mhz.
I got the Hercules Prophet2 MX board, 32 meg ram...  looks good in Nascar4
but all of my old games look like SHEEIT.  got me 2 sticks of pc133
(generic) ram for 31 + shipping and that made the biggest help for n4 and
the lowly cpu.

The card is forsale BTW...
