GP500 Control Help

by Mike » Sun, 22 Aug 1999 04:00:00

Hi All,
I've just DLed the GP500 demo & love it!
I am having a tuff time with control & was wondering
what you folks are using for control settings? I am using
a J Stick. What is the best starting point for dead zone &
sensitivity? Also as far as braking goes are you folks using
1 j stick button for both front & back brakes<linked>? Last but not
least
under difficulty settings what is best for lean? What is....
Lean : Man A/B, Man L/R, Man Full & Auto? Thanks for any help
given. This is by far the best MC Sim I have tried.

Thanks Eric,
                     I'll give that a try.
How about the lean settings under difficulty?
I have been having best results with either
Full Man or L R Man.
Thanks again btw I remember you had one of the best GP2 sites.
I cut my teeth with your excellent set-ups.
Mike

Mike, i use a steering here, what you want to do is put
deadzone to 0, then play with sensitivity, on my machine
i like +20% sensitivity

Cheers, Eric

I use a actlabs eaglemax flight stick.

accel - flipper up
breaking (front and back) - flipper down
left - left
rigth - right
gear up - b1
gear down - b4
look back - b2 or is it b3?

dead zone - 2
sensitivity - (minus 2 notches, whatever that equils.)

Thats about all i can say i guess.  and manual lean means you have to
move the guys body while your turning the bike.  I heard its really
tough, and some ppl use it.

Are you actually using a joystick to play this game.  I find that with
my joystick I have so many buttons to remember to press that I'm all
fingers and thumbs.

Oops!!  Just discover that there's an option for AUTO lean.  I had it
set to MANUAL.  Still can't keep the bike on the track though. :-(  I
must have started nearly 100 races - don't bother with practice and
qualifying - and I've only managed to finish once without falling off.
Can't say its 'coz I'm going fast either: best of 1:55.  I just can't
seem to get the bike on the right part of the track.  By the time I'm
out of a lean I'm completely off the normal line.

In fact something seems a bit odd.  For instance, going into the last
chicane, the one before the 180 hairpin that leads back onto the
start/finish straight, during the first part when I lean left I often
find that I run too wide so that I'm about to go off the track on the
right.  However, if I start leaning the bike to the right without even
slowing up, it takes the bike's wheels well away from the side of the
track and I am able to take the second part, of the chicane, the
righthander, without any problem.  Surely I should end up in the dirt?
