In the UK when the banks proposed to charge people a fee to get their
money, there was such a huge fuss that they backed down. I noticed when
I went to the US that there was often a withdrawal fee if you were not a
customer of the bank you were using but interestingly as a foreigner
drawing out dollars from a sterling account in the UK I was never
charged (my bank doesn't charge me to withdraw money ever, whether at
home or abroad). Perhaps it's time you stood up to your banks and told
them to stick their charges?
Apologies for not having anything on topic to say :)
