Regarding the discussion last week who designed Tremblant I got this
mail from the circuit Tremblant guys:

Hello

Well, it was a bunch of guys who sat down around a table ....and
basically
they look at the ground and design a racetrack around it.

But , Bruce McLaren review the design and made some comments, that why
we read his name.

I always assumed Peter Ryan had a hand in it.  His family owned the Lodge
(Mt. Tremblant), and Peter was a very gifted racer, in the mold of Sam
Posey.  He died shortly before the track opened in 1961 in Paris.  He was
20.

a reputation on the North American scene as a versatile Formula 5000 and
Trans-Am saloon competitor. He had two Surtees Formula 1 drives, in the 1971
and 72 US Grands Prix, and later shared the 1975 Sebring 12-hour winning BMW
CSL with Brian Redman, Alan Moffat and Hans Stuck. Since retiring he has
become a respected television commentator.

He won *one* race?  Hell, Johnny Herbert has a better record...<g>
