Arrrgghhh noooooo, my GPL has died!!

Hi
when I start GPL, all I get is a black screen and then back to the desktop,
I have 29 tracks installed, and all my .ini's are correct, i haven't done
any updates to GPL since the last time it ran (and well too)
I have tried resetting the app.ini to software but is still won't start!
my sysspecs are:

GF2GTS(27.10 drivers)
via chipset with the latest drivers
384Mb
W2ksp2

please please don't tell me I have to doa reinstall and go the add one of
the old folders at a time until it stops working again route......

Something I did to simplify reinstalling of GPL for whatever reason
was once I got all the cars and tracks in, I copied the entire GPL
folder onto a CD-R..

So next time I want to reinstall GPL I simply move GPL folder back
unto my HDD and wah-la, GPL reinstalled...

Have you tried setting your pc back to default, no oc'ed speeds?
