I've bought NFS 2-SE and NFS 3 in the past and on both occassions
I've initially been impressed with the perceived quality of the package,
but when it came down to actually racing and attempting to experience
what was going on it becomes terribly dissapointing.
For example, in RC2000 or CMR or GP2 (or frankly, any other sim)
I can judge the corners quite nicely due to engine noise, visual cues
and the responsiveness of the graphics. I.e. I can make some
attempt to "actually drive" the computer car.
In any NFS title, it seems the only way to even
keep up with the AI competitors is to have your foot hard down
at all times, and get around the corners any way possible - even
"bouncing"
off rocks and walls acheives better results than slowing down!
Is this just me? Did anyone actually "drive" NFS 3? It seems like the
worse driving similator I've come across. Allthe effort appears to
go into graphics and flash photos, but greater driving thrills could
be found in any budget racing game. (E.g. Toca 1, GP 1)
Can I take it that NFS 4 - even with the "porsche" name is a similarly
shallow offering ? - don't want to waste money again.
