Now that Frankenheimer's gone, "Grand Prix" may never be released on DVD,
but at least the most-excellent documentary, "The Making of 'Grand Prix'" is
now available (Passport Video DVD 1701).  I got mine from Critics Choice
Video for under $10.  R.I.P., John.

Why would his death mean we'll never see it on DVD?  Steve McQueen's
long gone, and you can get Le Mans on DVD, right?  Was there something
funny about the rights that was never resolved?  I'd presume the
rights pass to *somebody* - just gotta know who to pester now ;).

Not a 2 pac fan, but aren't there more Digital Underground albums than
2-Pac albums?

Technically, there's no reason why his death would prevent the DVD release,
but practically, he's gone as a champion of the cause.  When he and I were
planning my book on "The Making of 'Grand Prix'" he told me there were some
legal impediments that he felt he could relieve (by arm-twisting the studio
heads) before the release of the book...which, of course, never happened.

Is the book in limbo now, or is there still the possibility of releasing it?

Some people in the book biz have urged me to continue, but w/o
Frankenheimer, it could only be a memorial, not a memoir.  I'm not saying it
couldn't be a book, it's just that I couldn't write it.
