Car Damage

Car Damage

Since a few weeks I drive with damage set to realistic.
Sometimes my car breaks down after a lap or 10, sometimes after 20,
but I can't imagine finishing a 68 lap race without my car breaking
down.

I know a couple of things that can prevent damage:
- don't hit anything :)
- make the gear ratios taller
- no speedshifting

I drive Lotus. I know that the Lotus is the most fragile car of GPL,
but I love the power of the Lotus. Don't want to drive anything else.
Are there other things that can cause damage? Do the spring and
differential settings or other settings have an influence on car
damage?

What kind of failure's are you getting Andre??

The only other thing I can think of that may cause damage is downshifting
too early.

I allways blow my engine.... It doesn't happen if I drive VERY
carefull, but then I don't get those fast laps...

Watch your starts as well, the few seconds that you may be over-revving the
engine on starts can have an effect later on in the race.  Other than that,
make SURE you shift a hair before the redline.  Just a few over-the-redline
shifts during a race can kill the Lotus.  Don't do any speedshifting
whatsoever, it's death.  You really have to take care of the Lotus if you want
it to last.  LOL.
