Can anyone explain to me if it's possible to access this newsgroup from
AOL or FreeInternet?  This newsgroup has so much info and I'd hate to
lose access to it.  Thanks for your help.

The Internet is a network of computers, It's not AOL contrary to most
AOLers beliefs<g>  Every AOLer I talk to can't get a handle on just what you
can access on the Internet if you don't use AOL.  shoot, some of them were
surprised to find out that you can access E*** and Alta.-vista search
engines.  They honestly thought that AOL had an exclusive to them<g>

Yeah, it's incredible, isn't it?  And I'm not putting down the person who
posted the question, either.  I put a lot of it back on AOL -- in many ways,
I think they encourage that belief, and they CERTAINLY do nothing to
introduce their members (captives?) to any of the wonders and power of the
'net short of their own content.  I signed up with them years ago as a
beginner, and couldn't believe what I had been missing when I finally got a
little smarter and more sophisticated.  The lameness of their search
capability alone is reason enough to leave them, IMO.

It depends on the previous experience of the user.  Since I deal with computers
all the time, I realize there's more to the world than what AOL shows you.  As
a matter of fact, I often use Netscape to search for stuff while using AOL just
for the internet connection.

Eldred,
I'm the same way.  I now know how to view this newsgroup through AOL.  But,
I always start up Netscape for dual surfing capabilties.
Cya,
Richard
P.S.  Time for me to see if I can get under 14 min at the 'Ring!  :-)
