I love GPL, but without a doubt I have come to the conclusions that it
works just like any other game. In other computer games if you are
having a problem somewhere you can try various solutions which
invariably will not work until you hit on the most reliable way of
getting past the point at which you are having difficulty. In GPL I
have discovered it works much the same way. Having a problem at a
certain part of the track then try different ways of getting through
that part until the most reliable and quickest way presents itself.
Meantime, whilst trying various ways, you are going to end up in the hay
or wall quite often, but eventually you will start to hit on the best
way.
In the real world you cannot do this. You cannot take chances like this
as obviously you're putting yourself and the car at risk and so,
although GPL is very good a simulating the physics of motor sport for
these cars, it can still be treated like a game as with any other
computer game.
