Yet another steering wheel recommendation?

Alright, after going through a year with a Saitek R100, I thought I'd
upgrade to one that's a little better.

Now, I'm not a die-hard racer, so I'm not interested in one with FF. I
just play NFS:PU, DTR, etc  (i.e. no GPL or NASCAR4 for me). So that
leaves me with three options:

Thrustmaster Nascar Pro Digital 2
Microsoft SideWinder Precision Racing Wheel
WingMan Formula GP

Now after messing wround with a display of the Wingman, and feeling
how loose it is, I've put that as my third choice.

I originally was leaning toward the Nascar Pro after reading a few
good reviews, but I just read some less than spectacular reviews for
it.

So does anybody have a recommendation?  Better yet, has anybody used
both of these and can give a few opinions?

I have used both the Microsoft FF and the TM Nascar Pro Digital (original).
My experience has been that the Pro Digital worked great before DX8, however
now I could get any of their drivers to install or even run properly. It's
my understanding that there are no major differences between the original
Digital Pro and the Pro 2.

I went out and got the Microsoft FF because I had never owned one, however
had a friend that let me try his. I really like it and if this one happens
to burn up or ***out on me, I will buy another. It was easy to install and
an alot of fun to use. The only draw back is having to go into ***
options to switch wheel profiles. I wish it had a program you could put on
the Desktop and do a quick switch like the Microsoft Joysticks.

Anyway, if you have the time and patience then the TM is a good wheel.
However for ease of use and getting running quick, I would definitely buy
the Microsoft FF. Plus you can get one for right around $100 USD and that's
not bad for Force Feedback in my opinion.

You can still get a Actlab's non force feed back wheel. Ihave the force RS and
it works great. I would think the same quality is in both wheels. I play the
same games as you with the FF and let me tell you it makes a big difference
with the FF. I got mine for around $139 new. Just a thought.

Buy a TSW whl--by the time you spend $ on two lesser whls--you could have
bought the one that will last forever. Good luck.

I would definitely get an act-labs, but I would get it with FF. Here is why
:

The FF in the act labs is splendid
The Shifter only works on the FF wheel
The patch for NFS:PU to us the shifter makes this a completely new game
Try RC2K with the shifter...
Best wheel around, best support BY FAR....

I went with the MS PRW.  Here's why.  It was about $69CAN (after
$30rebate, finally got the check, thanks MS).  It took up less desk
space, way better clamping system.  You could take this thing of in
literally 2 seconds. It felt better than the TNPR2.

However if I wanted FF, my next purchase will probably be an Act Labs
Force RS with shifter.

errr, I think the shifter doesn't woor with the non FF model, it got changed
when they made the separate paddle behind the wheel.

Could we wrong though.

You are SOOOO right about the pedals, I wish the new set will be out soon.

Definitly go for the FFB versions... you'll be glad for that.

I love my Thrustmaster FFB Racing Wheel Ferrari... USB, FFB, hi precision
and control, Hat swirch 8 D-pad, 2 buttons + 4 quick-buttons, side Gear
stick, 2 wheel gear levers, 2 wheel throtle/braking levers, nice pedals,
solid and robust construction...

I've tested it against a MS FFB USB before buying it and I liked it
better...

Here is the deal I got and I am not a *** racer either.

Sam's Club is selling MS Presicion Pro for $19.00 and
MS FF Wheel for $51.91.

I couldn't find a Sam's store that had one in stock so I called around
and Staples price matched Sam's!!

Whhhooheee!!!!
My receipt say $140.89  -88.98 for a total of $51.91.

Got it yesterday (3 days after buying it), delivered to my door step.

I now love Staples!!

Good luck.

That's a little more than I was planning to spend... in fact it's
nearly TWICE at much. :)  I've definitely heard great things about the
Force RS, but I don't play racing games enough to make it worth the
money.

Considering that I will use it for about 1-2 hours a week if I'm
lucky, I'd say that would last 2 or three forevers.
