Upgrading for GP2

I suddenly feel like an urge to upgrade something to run GP2 faster :)
My current system is: P5-120/32MB/Tyan 1469VX/Lightspeed128.
gp2log.txt reports speeds of 233 for the system and 444 for the video
card. I am running the game with textures on curbs, track (will never
give up this one, it's the only way to feel the speed), track and cars
in mirror, medium detail level - recommended fps - 18.2. I run the
game at 1-2 frames lower, and for instance the first corner after the
s/f line at Monaco is barely "take'able".
My question is: where is the bottleneck in GP2? Is it more power
hungry or it's the video? I can upgrade my P5-120 to a P5-150 or 166
for the a bit less than the retail price difference. Is it worth it?
Since MP has not officially stated they will port GP2 to a 3D
accelerator, and the other currently available graphics cards like the
Matrox and Hercules are not much different in SVGA that my LS128, I
don't think I might get anything better on the graphics department.
So: will a pentium that is 25-38% faster give me a comparable increase
in framerate? Or only the change in motherboard/PCI speed will have an
effect, and in this case will it be comparable (i.e. 10%).

BTW, anyone has comparisons for GP2 performance between a Pentiums and
PPro's of same speed? (besides "it rUleZ on my PPro!":)

Karim

Sincerely, Karim

I've just started a GP2 benchmark list for people like yourself, its
only a week old but has a few submissions already.

You can find it http://www.zip.com.au/~davidg/GP2/gp2pop.html

The best upgrade would be a GP2 rendition version :)

Regards,
David Greene

(btw thank you to those who have submitted scores)
