N4 resolution?

P3 550, 256MB RAM, Nvidia GeForce2 GTS with 32MB memory Detonator3 631
drivers

I try and set N4 graphics resolution to 1024x768x16 and the test during
configuration freezes my
machine and I must reboot (I select D3D, TnL HAL, 1024x768x16) and it hangs.
If I do same with 800x600x16 it works. But every other game in the world I
use 1024x768 or higher with 16 or 32 bit colour? (run Microsoft CFS2 at that
resolution and I know it supports TnL)

Are you running 32 bit on your desktop? If so, try setting it to 16 bit and
see if that helps.
