How can I make part of the  GPL***pit transparent ?

Take the "mip" you want to make transparent and convert it to a BMP
file.  Then open it with a program like Photoshop.  Simply increase
the transparencey.  Then convert it back to a MIP!
Currently, I am racing with 50% transpearent arms and hands.  This
allows me to see the tach and still race with arms and Steering wheel.
 A driver in our league did this and explained the proceedure.

***pits...yeah that's a flyboy trick if I ever heard one.

I can not make it transparent.
I paint the***pit bmp black and set it transparent, save.
convert from bmp to mip.
The***pit is now black... not transparent.... what to do ??
