A few points....

1. Everything you hit has the same effect e.g. cow: you stop dead, cow goes
flying, Plank of wood lying on the floor possibly 2cm tall at most: you stop
dead plank goes flying. Crazy.

2. If you push a cow onto the train tracks, the train just goes straight
through it  and neither of them are affected at all (no I'm not insane! :) )

3. to the left of the bridge between check points 2 & 3 there is a cunningly
placed mound disguised in the shape of a jump over the train tracks. Very
spectacular :)

4. Somebody mentioned 49 seconds being fast. I've managed a 1:05 lap. I'm
sure I cant shave 16 seconds off that time, whats going on?!

5. You can land on the back of the train, but you need to keep the wheels
going at about 50 mph (the speed of the train) or you just slide off the
back as though you aren't attached to the train at all :(

6. It's very satisfying to just make it over the train tracks and see your
opponent smash into the train just behind you :)

7. It's very satisfying to be miles behind and come across your opponents
waiting for the train to go past then pass them all because they are
starting from a standstill and you are going flat out :)

8. The computer players use shortcuts! (by the farm, they completely ignore
the road)

9. Driving in pitch black is cool.

10. Doh! I cant think of a ten :)

Thats it for now. All in all I'd say its a fun demo, but I wont be spending
35 on it when it's released, as it's a completely arcade style driving
model (fun, but only for about 5 minutes).

You did drive it in Pro mode, yes? The driving model's much simpler in
rookie mode.

Yes, pro-mode, I tried it in rookie, you can go flat out all round the
track! To be honest I would probably have thought it fantastic except that I
have now played the GPL demo, and perhaps expect too much. I can't lap fast
in GP2 anymore because I drive it GPL style and crash every other corner :)

I still think it's great fun, but it only has a limited appeal for me.

I can't help thinking that MTM2 with SODA's physics engine would be a real
blast <g>

Glad I'm not the only one to go after those cows to see what would happen;^)
Also got up on the tracks and got hit headon by a train! Stupid but fun.
Aren't demos great, for a little dl time ya get to try out all kinda stuff for
free.
I sure spend a heck of a lot more time driving GPL (free) than I did driving
XCAR ($49). (now free with Burnout.....Doh!)

Just keep practicing, and as you start getting faster and shaving time off
that 15 second gap between our times, you'll be pushing the truck closer to
it's potential, and probably start to appreciate the driving model more. My
initial impressions were much different than they are now in much the same
way they were with GPL. At first I was a mess with GPL, but then I got the
feel of the driving model and loved it. I said in another post, I actually
hit the 1min 7 sec time in GPL in less practice time than it took me to get
the hang of MTM2.
