MTM2 - Played it, its unreal!

Hello everyone,

Well I got a chance to play a beta 3 version of MTM2 and all I can say
is,"Incredible!". See, I have been a big CPR(Glide)/F1RS/Nascar2/3dfx
fan fora quit a while now and always thought that nothing would compare
on my P233/32meg/12meg V2 system untill I saw this demo. I don't know
where to start but the graphics are top notch! They go beyond anything
you've seen in F1RS or any racing sim for that matter. The graphics
engine from TRI has to be seen to be beleived. However, youre probably
asking about the framerates, arent we all. The framerates are
incredible. With all of the effects turned on I hardly got 1 drop in
framterate and I would guesstamate the game is getting around 40-45 fps.
It screams!

To be honest, I'm still in awe over this one. Wait till you guys get a
chance to see this game running on your system, you'll look back on the
rest and think, what was up with that.

One other thing, the over control of the truck is incredible and
lifelike. I was constantly sawing back and forth try to anticipate wich
way the truck was going to land. You can also powerslide the truck
around corners depending on if the terrain is snow, dirt, gravel etc.....

Got any questions, drop me a note........

Call me Mr Pessimistic, but it will take a LOT more than flash
graphics to do that. Admittedly MTM was a lotta fun, but the graphics
of MTM2 don't look enough to eclipse F1RS overall, nevermind GPL.

Looking forward to it though, I've heard a lot of good things about it
in multiplayer. I like arcade racers also, so it should be good for an
8-way thrash over the 'net (or is it only four over the 'net?). I
played a lot of MTM at the Zone, so MTM2's release should see me back
there :-)

That and Castrol Honda bike racing should keep me happy in arcade
racers for a while!

Cheers!
John

PS - I may be heading over to Portland for a business trip at the end
fof this month, so if there's any more Portland area sim fans
(Michael?) perhaps we could get a night of racing?

No offence Tony but I did not even read your post for the fact that this
game is made by the lamers and thives at Microsoft and TRI.
I will not buy this game and hope many more steer clear of this garbage as
well.

This has nothing do do with you Tony, only the above shit ass companies.

I bet this game will be just a lousy eye candy play for 5 mins and shelf it
game anyhow.

A Typical TRI game.
Sucks.

David is dead on. I am not a beta tester 'but' have gotten a chance to get my
paws on a 'Beta 3' version of MTM2 and it will set some new standards in driving
sims. I've never driven a car/truck in a sim and could hear the sliding on
either rock, grass, dirt and know who to compensate in the wheel during a slide.
Also, when the truck is sliding or bouncing etc, you can actually know what
tires are on the ground and which ones aren't hence giving you better control.
After thinking about this, there was a arcade game probably 6 years ago that had
the same 'style' where you could jump and take short cuts etc and the game was
killer and MTM2 reminds of that game.

Stick a fork in me, I'm done!

8-way. It does have great graphics BTW (excelent weather and time of
day effects, the best I've yet seen). But it's te driving model I love
- it's feels great to power slide those monsters around corners!

This is exactly the bulls~~t that is so ridiculous here at r.a.s. Jake,
don't buy it. Miss out. This is an AWESOME game that, even though it's not a
"sim" will still set a standard in a lot of areas, not only in driving games
but all PC games. I beta tested this game for the past few months and could
never get over how good it was. I'll tell you all about it in a few weeks
before the demo is released.

The graphics in MTM2 are better than anything I've seen, easily the best of
any racing game. F1 and GPL are very, very good, but this is a whole new
level. Tony and Joe are right about the driving model. Weather effects are
awesome too. There's a huge difference between MTM1 and 2. As far as the
multi-play, you'll have a ball with what you see happening in front of you
and the wild things that you do yourself. Most of us that beta tested it are
hard core simmers, some familiar here on r.a.s., but I think I can safely
say that we were all in love with this game. And John, I'm glad to hear you
will be at the Zone with MTM2 so I can do battle with you for busting my
rump about CPR.  (I can't hit you in GPL)  :-)

Well, I will show my "arcadish" style here...

For an STRICKLY arcade game, MTM is a very good one.  It's one of the few
non-serious racing title who made me play.

But pleeeease, don't even tell that it will set some new standards in
driving SIMS.  lol, there is going to be plenty of arcade-gamers who will
buy it (or WaReZ it, that's how young people play games now).  But don't
tell me it will be the next reference in the simulator area ('cause it ain't
a sim). I'm sure it will be better than MTM, but that's all. It will never
do a thing to the serious simulators on the market.

Man some people (not you Tony) are getting on my nerves here.  They try to
make shit out of r.a.s. by telling that X game is now an arcade game, Y game
is a very good sim.  And they even flame John Wallace ! Whoa ! impossible,
somebody will explode and flame every one of you arcade-gamers some day !

Except maybe that there are no other monster truck simulators out?

Then again knowing that is will be published my Microsoft, I know that
alone is enough for many losers to bash it without seeing it
(talking about the person here who started this thread).

Who is John Wallace besides that I see him writing here in r.a.s.?
You make him sound like an infallible semi-god. Has he already said
something about MTM2?

Uh, you can't suggest that here on r.a.s. or certain regulars will tell you
you're nuts. Happened to me again today, just 5 minutes ago.   :-)

Yup, people who didn't like CPR (and I'm one of them) are going to be
pleasently surprised by this one.

You won't be able to hit me in MTM2 either, not unless you get ***
as I'm lapping you ;-)

Looking forward to racing though, I had a lot of fun with MTM. It may
have been arcadey, but it had enough of a link to sims that made it
challenging and reward good driving. MTM2 sounds like it carries on
that tradition.

Cheers!
John
