Yep, but keep it minimal.  Set up your ride height so that your planks will
just flash on and off very quickly occasionally.

: If you read in the manual it mentions this somewhere. It says that the
: penalty for having the ride height too low is to scrape the plank on the
: ground and slow the car down due to this friction instead of
: disqualifying to.
: Read it. It's in the manual somwehere (I don't have it on me right now).

Pretty close, but there isn't any real speed penalty while rubbing.
However there is an extreme power hit once you wear the plank down to
the point where it shows up "red" on the***pit damage display.

If you plank gets worn down during practice when you a setting up
the car, how do you replace it?

I think it's one of those magical 9.0+ second pit stop repairs.  Pull in
the pits and presto change brand new car ;-)

Actually the manual isn't wrong, from this point of view the entire GAME is
wrong. You can't disqualified for plank wear in the game, though you can be in
real life indeed (if you're an F1-driver ofcourse...).

Go in for a pit stop,  your amazing crew will replace it in less than
10 seconds. Wonderful hey?

Should I wait 10 seconds before going into the car setup?

Just go to the pits and they'll have it replaced for you by the time
you drive out.

Yes it does. Up to 0.1mm is OK, over that and you get DQ'd. In GP2 once you
get over 0.1mm the plank on the little car damage icon goes red, and the car
runs very slowly for a few seconds. Sort of a time penalty. After that, it
goes back to normal. Try lowering the ride height and give it a go. I think
pitting may bring the plank back to normal as well, but I am not sure.

Bye.....   Russellm.

It stays red. At least it did for me.

I've noticed that if your plank is worn out during a race, you will not
be able to go as fast as before, in terms of top speed (ie instead of
308kph you can only do 298kph), and it lasted for the rest of the race,
so it wasn't temporary...
