N2: Creating logos

I'm having trouble reliably creating logos for use for races in N2
(that is, the EVENT1.PCX, EVENT2.PCX, BIGLOGO1.PCX and BIGLOGO2.PCX
files).

I've used Paint Shop Pro to create them. I've resized them to match
the ones that came with the game. I've tried loading palettes used to
paint cars, and loading palettes drawn from logos that work. I've made
sure they are in the right color depth (256).

Sometimes they work just fine but sometimes either:

a) The whole screen goes wacky colored (pinks or greens or blues all
over the screen) -- this can happen with either type of logo onscreen;
or

b) For EVENT1.PCX or EVENT2.PCX display only, the Track Logo and Track
Shot look really blurry and grainy and weird.

Any idea why this is happening, and how I can make Event and Biglogo
PCX files that don't cause this problem?

You will need to save 2 palettes for each track (if I remember right,
you'll need an event .pal and a biglogo.pal for each track).  For example,
to create event logos for atlanta, you will have to first open the existing
event.pcx and save the palette, then load it when you've finished the new
event.pcx file.  Then open the biglogo.pcx for atlanta, save that palette,
and load it when you create your new biglogo.

Are you using PSP 4.12?
It does the same thing to me.  It also screws up the imported driver
pics.  If you can get a hold of PSP 3.12 use that.  I use it and it
works fine.  4.12 is really only good for making cars.

I sure am using 4.12.

I found a copy of version 3.11 (3.11 is shareware -- 3.12 is only
available by paying first), and it's downloading now. I'll give it a
shot.

Thanks!

Just take the old event1.pcx and so on and make a solid back ground like
balck or white and just put the logo on that I did it for the brickyard
and it worked fine
