How the HELL do you pass here ? I'm not even sure itis safe to try and pass
:)
This is going to be a very interesting race, there's no doubt about that :)

Best I could do was a 23.5. I ran a few laps against the AI, and made a few
passes in the corners by going to the outside right up next to the wall.
Yes, this is going to be interesting.

That's quite quick, I think.
It is possible, but it's at least a two corner job and, no, it's not safe at
all in the online context.
Look for this type of incident to happen frequently: two cars race for
position with another car in front. The overtaking (inside) car must go in
rather deep to avoid getting pinched below the middle lane (and losing his
exit) by the defending car. Car ahead of the duelling duo uses all of the
corner and catches the right front of the overtaking car --> another 4 laps
at 45mph.
Well, for once I'm going to be pessimistic about a race and predict it will
be a right ol' mess. There goes another $3 in phone charges down the drain
(definately unsafe to use the cable connection for this one).

This has been going on for some time now - I guess you must be more than a
bit miffed - having a cable connection and not being able to use it for
online racing :(
Cheers

Better, a lot better actually. It definately was/is a load problem at my
provider, but they've been working on it by upgrading their network,
combatting the spread of e-mail virusses and shutting down clandestine
peer-to-peer filesharing servers at corporations (there used to be 10Gb
worth of mp3s hosted at Agfa Belgium, I kid ye not).
Off peak, the connection is fine now. 7 thru 11pm CET (1am on weekends) it
spikes occasionally. Unfortunately, seeing as I have a history, people seem
very keen to point out every single ***y connection problem I experience
(bunch of whiners seems to have forgotten how badly they warped when I was
the only one on broadband... had to outqualify Barry back then because you
sure as hell couldn't pass his warping ass, now he's the one claiming I got
a problem even if I haven't <g>), so usually it's worth the connection fee
just to be spared the aggravation.
Unfortunately this RASCAR bunch is even prone to running into the cars they
can see and the resulting yellows do bring the financial situation into
focus (and, no Neil, I'm not supporting turning off yellows regardless). I
sort of snapped at Thompson two weeks ago and decided "I ain't paying extra
for this", but unfortunately during the Nashville race last week my connect
was as bad as it's been since August.
That said... server went ape on me yesterday and I was all over the place
even on the dial up (which you can attest is solid). Same problem took DGF
out of the picture too apparently.
If I were a private user this provider would have been history... being
self-employed things aren't quite that simple. Keeping my e-mail/web and
phonenumber are quite important... I haven't reached a point where I'm able
to prioritise my hobby over my business.
However, I am using the connection for racing again. This morning I raced in
the Belgian Championship without problems and tonight (8pm) I only had about
5 spikes in the Flemish League (which I don't consider to be a problem, even
around other cars... I can deal with that).
So here's hoping that the X-Mas boom won't gridlock the system again and I
can quit worrying about this shit in 2004.

Yikes, am I that predictable ;)
