Has anyone tried to play Gp3 on windows 2000, and if so was it successful?

yes, win 2000, runs perfectly fine

Although GP3 doesn't override your screensaver- and power management
settings and the game crashes when those occur.

Nope, sadly. Just as slow as in Win9x.
