SCGT - Banshee+display problems

by Detonat » Sat, 03 Jul 1999 04:00:00

I'm currently enjoying the SCGT demo, bar the fact that it doesn't like my
Banshee for some reason.  If I select 3Dfx, I can get the game to run, but
depending on the size of the display [600x400, or 600x800], then I tend to get
progressively worsening performance.  Symptoms include mouse trails, load screen
flicker/jumping, in game displays [cockpit through to various HUD displays].
The usual attempts of reducing textures and detail only offer moderate
assistance.
I've reinstalled both monitor and Banshee drivers, as well as the SCGT demo,
in that order, in the hope that it will help.  The only noticeable difference I
can make is by reducing the resolution to 600x400.  The performance is
acceptable at this res. but obviously, I'd like to savour the demo in it's full
glory - I'm angling to buy the game this weekend, but if it won't run with my
Banshee, then there is obviously little point.

I'm hopeful someone can shed some light on this and offer some assistance?

I'm also sending this to EA in the hope [hmm] that I'll get some insight from
them

System spec;

AMD K6-2 400
64megs SDRAM
AGP Voodoo Banshee [DCS brand - Taiwanese.... don't ask]
SB AWE 64
GA5AX m/b
W98

Once again, many thanks gentlemen for your assistance.

I have a Voodoo 3000 and a Pentium II 333. I have the same problem with the
demo.
Not to mention the engine sounds are crap.

Run the game in D3D, might not look as good but runs 3 times faster.

SCGT - Banshee+display problems

At a LAN party this weekend we saw one player with these problems, I duplicated
it by turning on the "Triple-Buffer" setting in my Voodoo3.  When I turned OFF
the "Triple-Buffer" the graphics returned to normal and mouse trails went away.
