Rally Trophy Must Read...

I bought RT yesterday and have pretty much devoted a whole weekend to it.

Here is my conclusion.

Russia,Kenya,Finland and Sweden are just OK.

Nice game with decent everything but nothing which is the best i have ever
encountered before.

BUT...then i got to Switzerland on Stage 1 in a Renault Alpine A610.

I started with the Incar view which was to be a very good choice, pipped
though by the bonnet view for sheer adrenaline rush.

The sky was in darkness, the rain was coming down and i pressed ENTER to
start the stage.

Off i went and 3 mins 54secs later with loads of mistakes i was
hooked...absolutely hooked.

Two hours and many runs later i was under 3 minutes and wondering just how
fast it was possible to go here.

It is without any doubt, the most immersive, realistic buzz i have ever
experienced on a PC.To explain that further,i was scared at times by the
sheer speed, yes a feeling of speed like never before, total concentration
needed to control the car which wants to take it's own route if you'd let
it,and with the darkness, narrow space sometimes and the power of the car,it
was just amazing.

Would be nice to know if it will feel as good with other cars or even in
daylight and rainfree.

But as of now, despite a great love of GPL and previous thoughts that CMR2
was immersive, nothing comes close to todays two hours.

Do try it like i said,i would love to hear your views.

Do you have any control of the weather/time of day in RT, or is it fixed
like in RC2000.

No, the weather is fixed. It never occured to me that was a problem, really
! The night time stages are just fine. The headlight effects are just like
TV.

The level increase is weird though - on easy it really easy, winning
with 20-30 seconds lead on each stage, it took me ages (ok, days) to
beat the intermediate levels (those fiat and alfa's are damn hard to
drive) but the expert mode was much easier again.
And yes, the Alpine is fun, fun, fun :)

One disappointment is the drop of fps when racing against the AI cars,
fps is much worse than in solo mode, and the Finland stage is
unplayable when racing the AI, it looks more like a slideshow there.

True, but the difference in fps between racing solo and racing against
5 AI cars is HUGE..

Lol :)
But really, it's a bit hard to understand the big drop in fps..
In solo mode fps is very good, add 5 AI cars and the fps drops
considerable, go with 5 AI cars to Finland and it's a slideshow.
Doesn't make much sense..

"Andre Warringa" > Lol :)
How is the AI implemented in RT?  I mean isn't Rallye pretty much solo
runs?  The only time you even see other cars is when you catch a real slug
or, as in my case, the AI catch me.
I don't have RT, I'm just curious, do they ghost the AI so that you are
constantly surrounded by other cars?

it is a slideshow

"Mr Lowpoly" tries to answer this one :)

RT has got around 10 000 polys in thier cars,
in lowdeatail mode they are less but still a great amount...

two highpoly cars on screen means 20 DTM Nascar Heat
addon cars....
