Problem with GP2...

by @cardio.ucsf.ed » Thu, 25 Dec 1997 04:00:00

Hi there all,

Just got a new set of wheels :-), a P233MMX 32Mb SDRam 128 bit Neomagic
graphic card, laptop.

GP2 loaded properly enough, and the menu screens are all fine. But when
I got to race, the fun and games begin.

It seems like it takes ages to register any keyboard input. Infact it
seems like the whole game stalls for a minute or two. Say I press the
'a' and the space bar, to build the revs up before the green light.
Notthing happens (i.e. gear doesn't 'engage', and the engine doesn't rev
audibly), then after a minute it seems to kick in, and rev up but
doesn't let off. During the pauses it doesn't recognize any keyboard
input immediately, only so after an exaggerated delay.

Any ideas?

Btw a stack of other games, include CART by Papy work fine. I am running
it out of Win95, at least until I figure out how to configure the CD Rom
to be read from dos.

Tia.

I would try to "restart the computer in MS-DOS".  That might help.

Could be a directx problem (direct input?) do you have the latest
version (directx 5)

Put the cd rom *dos* driver in the autoexec.bat and config.sys files
(and/or dossart.bat)
