I agree, I'm more into Nascar, but I don't see myself deleting GPL off my
hard drive any time in the near future.

Some people do nothing wrong.
The problem is, they do nothing.
And THAT is wrong.

No. ;-)

Your question was not directed to me, but I forgot to mention in the first
post that with the FF wheel on (Guillemot Ferrari), the hickups
increased...but only with the 3DFx driver. This only happens in GPL. I'm
quite happy with the Rendition rasterizer, though.

Yup, another one.

I continue to be amazed by the impact GPL has on those first trying it.
Interesting to note how some people immediatly "get" it, while others
dismiss it instantly as well.

Well, there's a straight simple explanation for that: GPL makes absolutely
clear that there are games and there are simulators. If you are a long time
sim inconditional like me, GPL grabs you instantly; it makes no concessions
at all to anything that might even remotely resemble arcade. If you're not,
then you just throw it off the window or ask for a refunding :-).
Sims are hard, but that's precisely the point: you have to learn it and
fight it. Every 10th of a second you take from your previous lap is a small
triumph and every 100th of a second you lose concentration costs you one or
two laps. Or, most likely, a whole race, by ending with you car upside down
like a desperate turtle after banging it against that ***y fence that kept
getting closer and closer and... See what I mean??? (gosh, 48h have passed
since I last fired up that red roaring cigar... sounds like an eternity)
It's this sort of struggle that most people just *aren't willing* to have! I
wouldn't criticize on that, of course... For me it's just plain natural that
an arcade gamer will run from GPL like hell, just as I run like hell from
arcade racing games.
Personal taste, that's all.

Cheers,
Rui
