GPL - Now I see what you mean

Hi All,

Well after the online store screwed up my order I finally received GPL
to play on the new P550 w/ V3 2000.

Whoaa! Now I understand what all the fuss is about. I've been a GP2
fan since it was released but I don't think GP3 is going to cut it against GPL.

After a couple of hours of spinning, crashing and general being a
nuisance to all other drivers I managed to get some consistency at Spa
and did 2 novice races.

I started at the back both times and finished 8th and 7th, without
having to resort to shift-r.

This was as good as a victory for me :)

Then I had to try the advanced trainer and managed a best lap
of 3:58, which I thought was pretty good
I seem to be getting 34-36fps most of the time, even at the start at Spa
with 11 other cars so I guess it doesn't get much better fps-wise.

Can anybody point me to references on how to modify the graphics. I've
downloaded some car graphics, which contain mip files and I'm wondering
how these mip files are created so I can try it myself.

Anyway, enough of this time-wasting. THere's serious driving to be done.

It's great to be in GPL world! See you out on the track!

Another convert... praise the Surtees! (this is getting silly ;-))

Never mind about the graphics, surf on over to www.vroc.net, there's some
serious racing to be done. Besides, there's bound to be someone in chat who
knows where to find the stuff you're looking for.

Amen, brother!  But maybe it should be "Praise Clark!".  I'm beginning to
think that Surtees may be a servant of the Dark One. :-)

(and what's the matter with silly? :)

36fps is the maximum framerate in GPL.  If you find your framerate dipping
the best options to change are setting mirrors to cars and track only,
switching off specular higlights and dynamic lighting and moving the detail
slider to the left.

Cheers

Phil
