Sierra SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I agree with you on 2 counts, Sierra did give their direct order
customers a raw deal, and yes, Sierra does suck <g>.  Don't cut off
your nose to spite your face though.  Not buying Nascar II will hurt
you a lot more than it does Sierra.  It's an awsome sim (Despite a few
annoying bugs), and well worth the money.  Just think of it as a
Papyrus sim and not a Sierra game :).

Heh heh, don't let him fool you, I think our friend Joel here is
basicaly doing a spoof of "Internet idiots" <g>.  I remember back in
the old days on INN playing Red Baron I had a character called "Wet
Noodle" with which I'd basicaly do the same thing.  I'd get on line
and act like a complete moron (at least I hope it was an act <g>).
Man, was it ever fun to get into a match with somebody and clobber
them after conning them into thinking I was some nitwit that didn't
even know how to work a joystick (Unlike Nascar, I was actually pretty
good at Red Baron) <g>.

I think Mr. Putty here is basicaly doing the same thing.  Probably
sitting back laughing his ass off every time somebody responds to one
of his posts.  Well, have a good laugh Joel, I personally think your
posts are hysterical ;-).

But, this is a Racing newsgroup, not Red Baron, so here's a topic
save:

i dont no why every body is asking all oof this quiestions about
nasscar 2 i think its is a very eaasy game you just have to go faster
then the other cars and then pas them so that you will be first if you
do that them you will win the race what is so hard about that anyway
god you pepul are dum!

Everbody has got sucked in by Joel. He isn't quite as dumb
or smart as you think he is! There used to be software floating
around 5 or 6 years ago that would convert what ever you key punched
in, to 5 or 6 mumbo jumbo's of your choice. They were based on
dialects or mentalities! Obviously, Joel picked the one that served
his personality! Some kids never grow up!

Ok guys, let me explain one thing.  If you we're Sierra, had a huge
product to ship for this Christmas, when it came time to ship it, would
you: A) ship it to a few hundred (thousand?) people who pre-ordered it
first, wait a couple of days until that's done (maybe longer), losing
massive amounts of money because the game isn't in the channel yet, and
then ship to the stores or B) ship to the stores (that process is alot
quicker since they send pallettes of product to major distributors and
they send it into the channel), stop losing that money every day as the
game sells in the all important Christmas time, and then, try as hard as
possible to get the pre-orders out?  If I were running the company I would
do it exactly like Sierra did.  I think you would too.
There is a concious decision to make here, do you want the lower price
or do you want the game faster?  That's information you can use in future
decisions.

I will defend you on this one - so long as we are talking a week or so
delay in shipping individual orders.  I pre-ordered to prevent having to
race down to the store before they sold out - realizing full well that
stores had also preordered and would probably get shipments first.  If I do
not get a my preordered copy by next week - then I will be unhappy.

Wow Adam,
I am surprised that you really don't know what the pre orders ( number of
) were, or maybe I missed something.. btw, do you have any ideal how many
were shipped to the stores, just curious.. I picked mine up on Dec 4th at
EB.. was the 2nd person in Indy to have it.. I love the game,
YOU GUYS HAVE DONE A GREAT JOB.. YEA!!!!  I do wish more people would read
the readme file and the manual before posting in the newsgroup.... btw, The
pitboard was nice, because it kept your fastest speed posted the whole time
and you could see easily that any changes you made were good or bad and if
the car was slowing down a little bit.. I know that all this info is
available with voice and F1 key, but the pit board kept your fastest speed
posted and you did not have to keep it in your head ( years of brain abuse
)
Thanks again for a great sim, I am very impressed... btw, do you ( or
anybody else that might read this post ) have any neat little files that I
might add to my old Indianapolis 500 game? I still enjoy it and my 6yo son
plays it all the time..
Keep your head up and pat yourself on the back for a job well done..

The problem here Adam is that I paid the original $49.95 price and I have
to wait.

You make a very valid marketing/financial point and it's understandable
(however
frustrating).  However I'm sure you can understand why we are upset when I
(like many others I'm sure)  called and ordered before I received the
upgrade
notice (knowing that when the game was released it would be cheaper)
I had assumed that there was some benefit to pre-ordering.

Like you said, this is information to use in future purchasing decisions.
And personally I won't ever order direct again.

No flames, just MHO.

Steve McCormick

Called and cancelled my order today.... Lesson learned.

Sierra SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by John Parke » Tue, 10 Dec 1996 04:00:00

The problem I have had is that Sierra misrepresented their "immediate
shipment and delivery" both on the flyer("send me my copy NOW") that was
sent out as well as the phone reps.
I order last Monday (week ago today) and was told that I would
definetely rec'v my copy before the end of the week.  After speaking
with a supervisor on the order desk (who promised me Thursday that she
would get it straightened out and call me back) I still have not heard
from Sierra or rec'd my order.  If Sierra wants to do a mass shipment to
the stores before shipping individual orders, I don't have a problem
with that - just be up front with consumers and let them know it  would
probably be quicker to buy it retail!!

And a return call would have been nice, if even to just let me know
that individual orders would be delayed for  x-amount of time!!

My opinion,

Vocabulary isn't the problem. Neither is language. It's the lack of punctuation
and formatting that make your posts hard to read. Try putting a period at the
end of each sentence, and capitalizing the first letter of the first word of
the next one. Use commas or other appropriate marks to seperate thoughts.

What's so hard about understanding that? Anyone with a fifth grade education
can, why can't you?

This isn't an act, is it?  You really are this stupid, aren't you?  Don't
know why we can't understand this ***you call english?  Just find a book,
or a newspaper.  Look at the sentence structure.  That jibberish you call a
message doesn't even qualify as 5th grade english.  How in the world were
you able to spell Valvoline, when you couldn't spell easier?  Must have a
case of it in your room, huh?

I agree.  Their advertising implied that people who direct ordered
would be the first to get the game.
I had ordered the game in September and called last Tuesday when they
told me it had shipped that day and would arrive by the end of the
week.  When it didn't come yesterday,  I called again and found out it
had been shipped on the 6th.  When I asked for a UPS tracking code so
I could check on the progress of the order, I was put on hold for a
LOOONG time, but did finally get a number and learned that it had,
indeed gone onto a truck in California at 4.40 pm on the 6th and
should arrive by the 11th.  IMHO, that's too long.  Everybody else in
my league has their copy and I just feel screwed by the whole deal.

For the same reason that you can't ignore our not ignoring him.

Besides, the dog is too far away to kick, and I needed to be mean to
something.  He seems almost as smart as my dog, so I lashed out.
