Driving standards were abysmal last night in general. I'm still too damned
angry to spout out here. I'd only say something I'd regret, suffice to say,
that certain people may do well to consider the virtues of racing marbles
around a fruit bowl. Much safer for them.

Jan,

I announced during the yellow chit-chat that I would be pitting on the next
Yellow.  However, that came only 1 lap latter so it obvously wasn't worth
it.

In retrospect, I wish I had of.  When I did finally pit it ended up costing
me my race.  Just bad luck.

Yep, I got caught up in that too.  Got the black flag for passing under
yellow.

I was _extremely_ confused and didn't understand until now why that happened
to us.

I, too, was about to enter pit lane to clear the flag when the yellow came
out.  Knowing pitting then wouldn't clear it, I cautiosly aborted the entry
to pit road.

From there I really don't know what happened.  I was back up on the track,
everything was looking ok, and then a car came down from my blind side 90
degree's to me right into my path.  I never saw it coming, and I still don't
know who it was or where they came from.  I hit it in the drivers door, and
my day was over.

On to next week :)

Only 7 out of 23 cars finished?

Dayummm.  I don't feel so bad now!

Oh.  So that's not really a good thing then?  Oh well, I finished 7
positions better than I started, and I somehow *survived* the whole thing,
so I don't feel too bad about it.  I think I probably could have finished
one or two positions higher if I had pitted under the last yellow to get
fresh tires, but that's racing isn't it?

Actually had some good racing during one of the green flag runs towards the
end.  When my tires started to go and somebody (Jurjen?) tried to get under
me I decided to see how long I could hold him off by taking the high line.
I think it took him several laps to finally get clear of me.  Looked just
like on TV, he would get into the corner and just about pass me but by the
time we got to the exit I had built up more speed and he couldn't quite make
it.  Fun stuff.

<major snippage>

Sorry I did not make the race.  I never even got to practice and
unfortunatly it looks like that may be the case for a good bit of the
spring.  I am recently working insane hours and includes Saturday
afternoons.
On the good side of this, the money I am making means that the next time I
am able to join a Rascar race I should be using computing power more up to
the challenge and let me actually see some nice graphics.

As a bowler, I'm *well* aware of that term.  But my finish in yesterday's race
had more to do with problems experienced by others than any skill on my part.
You and Neil simply drove away from me - nothing I could do.  There were at
least 5-6 other cars that were much faster than I could ever be.  They just met
unfortunate circumstances.  Same thing happened with Daytona.  Don't get me
wrong - I'm happy with my finish.  But I'm not going to delude myself into
thinking that it was MY doing.<g>

You're not giving yourself enough credit, you were there at the end in
both races to pick up a good finish, that's all that matters and staying
out of trouble is a skill in itself

And the history books (scoreboard) doesn't say anything about how you
got those finishes either, so unless you insist on letting people know
how it actually went down, who's to know :-D, just enjoy your moment in
the sun Eldred :-D

Beers and cheers

Yeah, it really is fun when you can race someone like that lap after lap :)

Too bad only 7 cars finished, though... :-(

Well, um...  If I read this right you still finished 3rd out of 7 with
about 10 or more starters, right? If so, what's so bad about that? Hey,
if the first two had made a fatal mistake you'd even have won!     :)

I think we started with over 20.  Regardless of what happened Eldred, 3rd of
20 is great :)  Neil and I both "tried" to give ya our spots numerous times
each :))
