Virtua racing is not a F1 simulation, although the car shape is most definitely so.
The general idea behind the game was to provide the player with a car with F1 power
but the grip of a slim-wheeled Bugatti! This is why you can get the car so sideways
through the corners and 'catch' the skid.

I haven't got a huge amount of experience with the game, I can just complete the
first circuit using automatic gearbox. Acropolis is good fun, but I believe you have
to master manual gears to stand a good chance. You shouldn't really HAVE to brake on
the first course - lifting off the throttle is normally sufficient, but again I have
only played on it a few times. Left-foot braking? Why not - real F1 cars are moving
that way ( McLaren ). There is no clutch pedal to operate ( unlike Ridge Racer ).
Speaking of which, I had my first few goes on Ridge Racer yesterday and was suitably
impressed with the graphics / handling of the car. Pitty about no external views or
multi-player action.
