You need a server. What you're describing is pretty much how our JustRacin
group got started. We had two leagues and every other night was an invite
pickup. After Ten we built a server, started up a newsgroup, and kept on
going. The group can combine resources to pay the server and ISP costs and
we have rules and stuff so it's not just any ol pickup race.

This sounds great to me. I haven't raced on-line in a few weeks now due to
the carnage that generally ensues.I'm not a fast driver, but think of myself
as a clean driver that doesn't want to ruin anyones race. I also like the
laid back attitude of joining a race when you have the time to, not because
the league admin has one scheduled for when you're pulling a double shift
and there's no way you can join...

I'd like to give it a try. I haven't had a lot of luck with picup races and
could use the practice.
