Attention, Attention!!

(BETA)
This patch is ver. 1.1.0.5 & includes the necessary CODE to use the RS
Shifter
in "GATED" mode with Nascar 3!!!!

Need to ADD the following line to the "N3.INI" file  :

GEARS 6 7 1 2

I have already tried this and discovered that you MUST assign the GearUP,
GearDN
to some other button assignment such as Button 13, Button 14 on the RS
Shifter
instead of Button1, Button2 .

Also to check out the "NEW" mirror settings, press "M" while in the car!

woo woo.........while the rest of us are still fumbling around trying to hit
the right two key combo send a damn autochat message.

New mirrors have been there since before the 1.0.0.4 patch

Although Im glad they added it, Id much rather see it added to GPL.  I don't
really see too much advantage in N3 for having the RS Shifter other than maybe
Watkins and Sears Point.  (And how many races do you see at those tracks
online?  <VBG>)

Scott, I missed the begining of this thread (as I do with so many). Is there
a patch to N3 for the RS Shifter? Where? Not that its needed, but any bit or
realism and effort for this support is still welcomed. Let's just hope it
comes for GPL where it is really needed.
Don't you just love bringing the engine revs up, moving your hand to a hover
position over the RS shifter, and then flicking it back with your fingers?

Yes,

The latest N3 BETA Patch has added support for the RS Shifter.  I agree with
you, Gate Shifting in GPL would be fantastic <G>.  Here is the first post:

Yup .. But what are button 13 and 14 on the rs shifter... I've got one...
you need to find extra keys for gear up, gear down and reverse, with the
shifter installed only the two buttons on the wheel work, the two middle
ones, 3 and 4, I use one of these for reverse...
                    Help please.. I can't get this to work... I specifically
have no idea how you remove the need to use 1 and 2 on the shifter for
gear-up/ down ?

                                      I feel an access denial internet

This is how I got it to work.  I first added the line "GEARS 6 7 1 2" (I
think) to the N3.INI file.  I then removed the shifter gate plate and
started N3.  In the controler setup I changed gear up to 6th gear on the
shifter and gear down to 7th gear on the shifter.  This is just to make sure
that you are not using buttons 6,7,1, or 2.  I also set reverse to the
reverse position on the shifter.  You then have to shut down and restart N3.
(At least I had to).  Thats all I did and it's working great.  Hope this
helped.

I added 'gears 6712' to the N3.ini. In the game, I set gear up and gear down
to the 2 buttons on the base, and used the stick shifter to pick Reverse.
But I didn't have to reboot. Most importantly, I then went out on Watkins'
and had a blast! My times weren't great, but it sure was fun.

I had a little problem getting mine to work until I realized what I had done.
I had shift up/shift down modeled to the legacy mode setup for the RS Shifter.
So I just changed the shift up and shift down to buttons I wasn't using and it
worked fine.  I also modeled the reverse to the reverse on the RS Shifter <G>

Its not as awesome as it would be in GPL (ITS NOW MODELED IN N3... IT CANT BE
THAT HARD TO CARRY OVER TO GPL COULD IT?  PLEASE?!? <G>)

Exactly what I did was add the "GEARS 6 7 1 2"  to the N3.INI file
then in the control options set "Gear Up" to "slot 5" on the shifter &
"Gear Down" to "slot 6" on the shifter then assign "Reverse" to the
reverse position on the shifter. Went back to the game and all was
well!   Watkins Glen & Sears Point as well as Laguna Seca &
Bull Run 2K are fantastic now!  I'll be converting most of my other
"TPTCC" tracks over for use in N3 just to enjoy the shifter that
much more!!

 Hi All,

Good points. I have found that you can simply assign the gear up and
gear down functions in the game to any unused keyboard buttons (such
as "j" and "k"), then there is no chance they can interfere with the
shifter settings.
