LWFF Ball bearing conversion update, price estimation

by J » Thu, 23 Dec 1999 04:00:00

Hi all,
I got about 10 emails yet.
If the price for ball bearings doesn't go up, I should be able to supply for
less than US$ 60 per set, incl. late parts, bearings, circlips. Shipping comes
extra. As mentioned on my webpage, I'll try to redesign the kit to avoid
difficult modifications at the wheel.

$60.00 for the machined parts also? That would be great. I purchased the
bearings to do it myself and with circlips they were about $25.00 US. Even with
making the bushings and bearing mount out of aluminum to save time (I suppose
some could be made of plastic), it looks like its going to take me at least the
8 hours or more that Mauritz suggested to make the parts. I tried to figure out
how to make parts that do not require modifying the wheel parts also, but most
of the shafts and holes seem to be standard (inch) measurements and the bearings
are metric. I could not find standard size bearing to fit the dimensions.
Good luck and keep us posted on what come up with.

Since its the easiest to machine, I'm tending to brass - heavy duty :-)
No plastic - promised.

I still need a *** wheel to redesign the kit - and don't want to buy another
one. Anybody in the area South Malaysia or Singapore interested in getting his
wheel upgraded and only pay the price for the bearings?

Jens

BTW: already about 20 enquiries

I would have thought having used a lathe on odd occasions in my life
that alloy would have been a lot easier to work with??
