NASCAR MODEM CONNECT?

by Douglas G. Borde » Tue, 07 May 1996 04:00:00

HELLO EVERYONE,

MY BROTHER AND I ARE TRYING TO LINK NASCAR VIA MODEM.   WE CAN GET ALL THE WAY
UNTIL WE GET TO THE POINT WHERE THE GAMES ARE EXCHANGING TRACK INFORMATION BEFORE
IT CRASHES.  WE BOTH HAVE VERSION 1.21, I AM USING A ZOLTRIX 28.8 MODEM AND HE IS
USING A GATEWAY 14.4.  MY QUESTION IS ... BECAUSE WE GOT AS FAR AS WE DID, DOES
THIS MEAN OUR MODEM CHOICES IN THE SETUP SCREEN ARE O.K.?  IF SO WHAT COULD BE
THE PROBLEM EXCHANGING TRACK INFORMATION?  IF WE CAN'T GET IT WORKING SOON,
SHOULD WE JUST DOWNLOAD THE HAWAII PROGRAM AND USE THIS TO CONNECT TO EACH OTHER?

ANY INPUT WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

Hi!  If you have too many tracks loaded, ie. converted Indy Car tracks,  It could cause this problem.

First off try not to write in caps, IT GETS HARD TO READ.

When hooking up via modem the track info on both games has to be exactly
the same. If you edited any of your track.dat or .txt files or anything
for that matter it wont work. It sounds like your modems are connecting
fine. If you can't get started reload the game the track pack and the
1.21 patch and than you should have the exact setup. don't forget to save
your various car setups before you reload your game. Have fun and good
luck

try to connect at 9600 its much more stable and doesn't make a
difference in the play of the game

One important thing is you have to have the same TXT file.
Meaning if one of you took ur restrictor plate off and the
other guy didn't, you get an incompatible tracks message.  I
will pull out the old modem manual and try to lower ur
connection down to 9600.
