N99 Sound Volume Very Low????

The answer to the volume problem is listed below....he has already
said it before.  Set everyone to 100% and the Speech level to 50% and
that fixes the problem.

I tried your suggestion and I couldnt hear the spotter
at all with it on 50%  Have you tried this yourself?
I know it says this in the manual, but it doesn't work!!!
The only thing that seems to work in making the spotter
text instead of audio..

Same problem here.

If I turn up the system volume loud enough to hear N1999, the Windows
startup sound scares the cat, throws the dogs into convulsions, and
pisses off the neighbors.

A cure _would_ be greatly appreciated!

I have the 128, and those drivers didn't fix mine :(

You must not use a Windows startup sound :)

If it doesn't work right with the industry standard, SoundBlaster, then
what chance do we have?

There were a lot of different sound cards listed in here.  I don't think
it's specific to a card/driver.

As EA would say, "It's in the game" :)

I posted this elsewhere but I might as well post an edited version in
this thread-

If you use the shortcuts or .bat
files that are supposed to be used to start the game you get LOW sound
and no balance between spotter and engines. IF you go straight to the
.exe file it is MUCH better! ie. double click nr199r.exe or nr19993d.exe
from Windows explorer.
...I would assume this applies to the regular exe (nr1999.exe) also but
I never tried it.

This skips the 'intro' movie and takes you straight to the game.

Hope this helps.

It's at C:\Sierra\NR1999\NR1999.exe.  Works great.
