Hope this is not a dum question....I just bought a racing wheel and had to
remove my joystick from the game port to accomodate it.  How can I easily
switch to my joystick without reinstalling everything and not buying a
second sound/game card???

USB fixes all.
I tried everything with my Nascar pro wheel, and just never worked no matter
what the situation. Well, with USB joysticks, I left my wheel plugged in the
game port and just used my joystick control panel to turn them on or
off.......works like a charm.
I was able to find both USB gamepad and flight stik for very reasonable
price, and love them...........now I just need a biga$$ hub on the desk top
so i dont have to get under the desk to add a new device.

You can use the PDPI L4 digital gameport card to get up to 4 gameport
devices which can be 'hot-swapped' by means of a utility of theirs.

I haven't used this facility though - I only got it because it reduces
the CPU overhead required to poll the gameport (as it's done on the card
rather than by the CPU) and it also gives a much smoother and more
stable reading.

Check it out at http://www.pdpi.net.

You could try a switchbox but I've heard these are unreliable with
many devices like FF wheels/sticks or controllers with many buttons as
they only connect a subset of all the pins on the port.

Alternatively,  consider getting a USB stick and you should have no
problems.  I have a Sidewinder FF wheel on the joystick port,  with
Precision Pro and Freestyle Pro USB sticks/pads.  No problems with
having to unplug anything.  Just make sure you assign the correct
controller to ID 1 since some games only work with controllers if they
have the ID 1 within the joystick properties.  There is a small program
on CH products website that will let you easily set any controller to ID
1 (regardless of manufacturer).

The JoyNet Gameport Hub works with all FF controllers, digital and analog
controllers I have tried on it (~40).  Couldn't live without mine.
