Yoke vs. Joystick

Jet...I switched over from my joystick to my flight yoke for a while,
and while I found steering more accurate, and certainly less strain
on the wrist, I ultimately went back to my joystick.  The biggest
problem I had was the amount of 'travel' or 'throw' between braking
and accel.  Pulling WAY back to engage brakes...pushing WAY forward
to accel.  Too much lag time, it seemed.  This was with a Suncom
GForce.  Solid unit, but it just didnt work for me and racing sims.
Keep in mind that driving styles vary greatly...and that there are
probably thousands of pc racers out there with the opposite view.
Personally, I'm saving my pennies for the ECC wheel/pedal combo...
Hope this helps...cheers...D.

Yoke vs. Joystick

That's how I did it at first, but then I switched the control settings so
that Button 1 is acceleration and Button 2 is braking. This is not as good
as pedals since you can't easily roll the throttle and brakes on and off,
but it takes care of the throw problem. I find it better than anything else
I've tried. (Make sure you're using non-linear steering, though.)

My yoke (a G-Force) lets you lock the column so that the Y-axis is inactive
for driving simulators.
