odd N4 experience - anyone else?

Hi all;

In a league race last night I had the oddest thing happen.

We were on the pace lap at Pocono going down the backstretch when there was
a bit of warp for me.  My screen flashed, then I lost all control of the
car - wheel and keyboard both.  Couldn't even retire with the escape key.
Had to reset the computer to leave.

On reboot, controls were all fine.

Anyone else ever have this?

Then I rejoined the race 7 laps down.  My car still had original damage from
the warp incident.  I also heard a strange noise every lap in the same place
on the track.

Should I attribute this to warp???

Opinions/experiences appreciated.

Willard.

  almost sounds like a track-data error.  since you heard the odd sound at
the same place...I wonder if you track file or the server's was corrupted.

Hi Dave;

No idea - the track at home runs fine solo and with the AI.  I had to reboot
the machine to quit the race - so shouldn't have been anything on my end.
There was a guy on 56k really warping badly - and the results were screwed
up cuz of it.  I should also say that there was a caution with 10 to go or
so and after I pitted, the sound was gone.

The sound was almost like the crowd sound, but very high pitch and short in
duration.  Was using EAX, no 3d for the setting.

Curious indeed!
