Klaus,

I did find a older copy of each file elsewhere on the drive, and I did
overwrite them with the version found in the systems folder as you suggest,
but I still get the same error message.

Any thoughts?

Looking at the pinned threads at Simbin, it could be you have too many
cars installed.  Try using the gtlite.exe as well as gtrun.exe.  Next use
the bat file inside f1 2k2 that removes the pro veh files.   Finally a car
manager could be used to reduce the number of available cars to LESS than
60

LOL :)

For the purpose of telling you for the same reason i was told..so as NOT to
do it because it was illegal.

I sometimes do things and then get told that was illegal....!!

So in this case i was told before to stop me from ever doing it :)

So what NOT to do is this.

Either have a copy of Win XP including SP1 cracked.....those *** people
do actually have such a thing.

Or use the available 'utilities' to alter parameters prior to SP 1 update.

Neither applies to me as i have Win ME and it is bug free and runs
beautifully.;-)

Hi,

I finally managed to get GTR2002lite to run, after re-installing video
drivers and MS Directx 9.0 (what a mod!). It remains unclear why it wasn't
working before. I wish I new, because that could help me understand why I
can't get the full version of GTR to run. I still get the same "unexpected
error: quitting: message.

Any idea why one would run, but not the other?

Usually the reason is tooooooo many cars in your car folder.  THe
regular premenu seems to have a limit of 60 active cars.  HOWEVER...The
only difference between gtlite and gtr.exe is the intro movie.  You are not
really missing anything functionally.
I wouldn't worry about it if you can get gtlite working.
