F12k-Won't Run-HELP!

by TlgtrPr » Mon, 12 Aug 2002 12:10:22

After hearing all the wonderful things about the ALMS mod I decided to give it
a try. Already had F12k, though I never played it much. it did work. Loaded up
the mod and after working thru the set up it let me select a car and track then
crashed to the desktop. Tried F1 and it would let me get to car then
CTD...sometimes with weird graphics and sound and locked up completely once...

I had put in new Nvidia drivers a while a go and understand that may be part of
the problem.

First-system info Athlon 950, 512 ram, Gforce 2 MX 100/2 with 64 ram, Aopen 850
PCI sound card, Win2k Pro...like I said it ran before...

What I have tried - uninstalled game tried agian F1 still wouldn't play
(several times.) Uninstall, defrag (needed it anyway..).. reinstall, patch with
1.074 patch and no-cd patch (both from F1 Relay)...complete re-set -up the
game...watch movies pick car, pick track-load track...watch pre race movie...go
to***pit view...CTD

Haven't even looked at the mods yet.....I would like to try the ALMS mod...so
anybody have any suggetstions....

I did not adjust any of the .ini files as I thought that starting from a clean
install would put in new ones and should pick the correct settings.  Right now
I am just trying to get F!2k1 to work before I go to the mod. I did lower the
resoloutin from where I had been before to 800x600 (it used to run at 1024x768)
it seemed to analyze ok...am dloading the 1.076 patch now will try it and the
new patch.  thanks for the helpa will post results later..........

I just want to clarify something.
AFAIK the mods are for F1 2001.  Your header and the first part of your
message said F1 2k (or F1 2000).  We are talking about F1 2001 correct???

tries)...patch to 1.076...same result except now it reboots the machine...could
it be anti-virus software during install (grasping at straws..)..about to give

Copy and paste your config.ini here.

And (I'm not sure if you had stated it in your previous post) A summary of
your config.

If I remember well you changed your video card, on what driver version of it
are U right now.

If you have Win98, there is a 8.0b version of direct x you could try it.

"TlgtrProd" <

no...mine also says that.  You 'may' be using the wrong exe file after
patching.  If you have a no-cd patch then you should be looking at
F1_2001.exe
right clik on that and choose the version tab.  THat should show which
version you are running.  It should be 1.076.    If that is what you have,
try double cliking on that file...
good luck

I   HATE it when I leave out a step..

right click on the f1_2001.exe file THEN choose the properties option...now
you can access the version tab...

Only two settings to change here to see if the problem relies here.

Put VIDEORAM=105
and VIDEMODE=0

105 & 111 work on mine and I have 64 megs of video, this suggestion is a
fluke 'cause I have no idea what these numbers mean.

Videomode  I know, 0 is for 640 X 480 16bit 60 hz.

6 is 640 X 480 16bit 100 hz !!!! ( I doubt that your monitor can sustain
that!?)

These numbers are associated with the choices you have for resolution in the
3D set-up, 0 being the first 0ne etc...

I wish I had a complete list of these if anyone could provide it I would
gladly paste it in my e-mails/posts when needed.

Dave we were 8! Yesterday over at relay racing in the FIAGTv3 great
connection From Lee (PC436) two of us were on 56k and there wasn't much
jumping around.

adjusted config as you advised actually went to 100 on vidram...and it actually
let me drive the car for about 50 feet...or on test day it pulls out of the
garage and then either CTD or reboots the entire computer...there sometimes is
a quick bluescreen error message...but too fast to see......

actually

Mmmm like I said i have no idea what the proper number should be the only
two that I know for sure that works for me are 105 & 111.

I remember having one in the 90's but which exact one I don't.

Try putting 105, not 100... (maybe?)
