just for interest sake, and possibly this won't work, but in the past
i've done the same thing to play Pod and avoid using the cd the whole
time. After making the image file using VirtualCD, i used a file
truncate tool to cut the image file from 300meg to 200k.
for some reason, the cd check still passed on the 200k file.
on my machine f1 2001 takes a fraction of the time to start since
installing the no-movie patch & the no-cd.
my cd is safely packed away on the shelf and will remain in pristine
condition, I hope.
I'm not going to use my cd and leave the no-cd .exe just to support an
anti-piracy stance. what would be the point? all i have to do is not
lend the cd to a friend and i remain legal in my book.
mind you, that brings up the old question. can I lend the cd to my
brother if I stop playing the game while the cd is away? mmm.
where's that license agreement...
