Wolfgang Woeger is really one of the nicest GPL driver that I know .
Evidently he his the fastest driver ,but ..and it's the most important , he
likes to get fun and has a great sense of friendship .
We often do on line races , no question for me to beat him, he his faster
than I will ever be , so when we race the guy who takes a lot of advance....
: him :o) .....wait for the other.
Result =  series of attack and off road , no winner , we doesn't matter
about times , only fun is important .

you can download below a good illustration of these pure moments of
adrenaline and fun :

It's a 400k file , but I believe it worth the download :o)

Ah yes....It's nice to know that the comradarie of Formula One Racing still
exists in modern times! That's the joy of the sport. No arch enemies, all
drivers respecting each other (Most of the time at least <grin> for you
on-liners).
But seriously, after reading ESTORI85's post about Wolfgang Woeger being
such a gentleman racer, it is refreshing.

PS: I can't wait to get my 2nd Voodoo 2 and USB Modem so I can join you folks
on-line.

I recently installed a new motherboard and it has these new-fangled USB ports.
Can anyone tell me what the benefits are from using these, instead of the com
ports? and more importantly will I have a faster connection to race GPL online? I
realise that I will need a new modem.
    Thanks,

According to Alison Hine's review, you will DEFINETLY have a faster
connection.!

(Incidently, Her site is an AWESOME one, if you don't have the URL, here it is:

A USB port allows for approximately 10 times faster data transfer to
devices connected to it than a serial port would.   So basically
hooking a modem up to the USB port would allow your computer to talk
to it faster than it would if it were hooked up to a com port.
However, the major bottleneck in modem transfer rates is in the phone
line itself, so any speed increase will be marginal at best.

The second benefit of a USB port is that devices connected to it will
not take up an IRQ, and you can also daisy-chain devices on the USB
port.  Technically you can have up to 127 devices connected to a
single USB port using USB hubs and expansion USB ports on the devices.
For instance, a single USB port could allow a connection for a USB
mouse, USB monitor, USB scanner, USB modem, etc.

Yeah, he is a nice guy, if only there was a way to sabotage his
car..... :-)

You better read the addendum on Alison's report regarding Voodoo2 and
a USB modem at:

Several of us use a joystick and pedals, at least at work.  As developers,
we're constantly switching between coding and driving, and it's a real PITA
swapping a wheel in and out that frequently.

I think they have now reported a possible conflict between usb modems
and voodoo2 cards? I'de wait and see if you are thinking of getting
one, its still *new* technology?

I attach my T2 to a TV tray.  This allows easy removal when not racing.
You don't disconnect the wheel from the tray, just move it to the side.

Of course its not as sturdy as a desk, but it reduces wear on the
steering column :)

The only 'PITA' I experience is after racing GPL for 8 hours :)

Jason.

WHAT?

On the other hand... this would make very fast "corrections" of the
car's behaviour quite a bit easier... Hard to believe anyway.
