I'd agree with Kenneth's message. I don't have the **impression** that
NCR2 is going to be so revolutionary to require a PC upgrade. Unlike
GP2 of course. It seems like a general evolution of NCR1 and ICR2, and
ICR2 runs better than NCR1 does!

Speaking from my own experience, Win'95 has been considerably more reliable
and supports DOS-based games better than Win 3.1. I've only had one DOS
game fail to run under Win'95 and that was just the FM sound that didn't
work properly in a very old game that my kids no longer play anyway.

reguard to reality...

I wish I could say the same.  I've got two problems with the idea 1) I don't
have the drive space available to put Win95 on my hard drive and 2) my
486/75 processor won't gain much, if any, performance by using such an
operating system.

Hello pay attention.

NASCAR 2 is a DOS game. It does not need Windows95. However, the front
end for the NRL will. Spot the difference.

I just installed win95 a week ago and have been surprised at how well it
works.  No problems at all (so far) with any of my racing sims.  I haven't
tried all the other games on my hard drive yet (flight sims, doom etc.).
Win95 reboots into your regular dos setup for games and appears to work
perfectly.

The only problem I've experienced is when trying to run a game in an
ms-dos window.  The joystick calibration was all screwed up.  Does anyone
know how to fix this?  As I said though, when win95 reboots for the game
it works fine.

No, this is still a problem for all Windows 95 games. Microsoft has been
rumored to be working on a fix, but noone's seen it as far as I can tell.
The only thing that helps is to throw more RAM at the box...

That's great! The reboots during the install are kind of a pain, but once
you get it installed it seems to be much more reliable than the DOS/Win3.1
combination. And once you get the hang of the new user interface, you'll
never go back to Win 3.1 again.

Actually, Windows95 will be the front end for the MP server. NRL will be one of many
racing series using the server. Spot the difference?<g>

Actually, that's not right, Chuck.

NRL is the entire NASCAR multiplayer environment/service.  It will
include NRL sanctioned series. However, the entire thing is the NASCAR
racing league (including pickup races & user created series).

So, just to make everything clear... NASCAR Racing 2 will be a DOS
game.  It will run just fine in a Windows 95 DOS box, however.  The
NASCAR Racing League -- the entire environment -- will require Win 95.
